Thanksgiving Day

This year, the School´s goal is to acquire an atmosphere of gratitude. That is why Thanksgiving Day has been so special for us this year.

Our main purpose was to use this American tradition to help our children reflect on how fortunate they are for everything they have and especially for everyone they have in their lives.

The weeks before Thanksgiving, teachers prepared their classes by reading about Thanksgiving Day´s history and traditions, learning songs and making crafts to decorate our classrooms.

When the big day finally arrived, the first thing the students noticed were the posters hanging all around the School saying “thank you” to all our staff: teachers, cooks, administrators, custodians, the Sisters and the Headmaster – all of them are here to make our lives better! This was the most appropriate day to appreciate and say thank you for their hard work and care.

We also wanted to do something symbolic, that represented our gratitude as a school. Our dear art teacher, Miss Lucía Quesada, helped us by making our magnificent Schoenstatt turkey covered with thankful feathers made by all the School´s classes. Every student in the School wrote the things they were grateful for on their class feather and they were very excited to discover how awesome the outcome was.

The English teachers also had great fun bringing this beautiful tradition into our classes and we are very grateful for the experience.
